Vehicle lift inspections and service in Finland

In Finland, we carry out both the annual periodic inspections and the in-depth periodic inspections for vehicle lifts of all makes and models, and we service and repair them. We hold a vehicle lift inspector certificate (level 2) issued by Kiwa Inspecta – so the inspection, servicing and any necessary repairs can be done on the same visit.

What does a periodic inspection involve?

The periodic inspection establishes the condition and safety of the lift: structures and anchoring, load-bearing parts, hydraulics and hoses, lifting arms and locks, safety devices, controls and the electrical system. A load test is carried out when needed.

The in-depth periodic inspection (perusteellinen määräaikaistarkastus) is more extensive than the annual inspection. Under Finnish practice it is carried out when the lift approaches the manufacturer's design limits or reaches 10 years of age, and every 10 years thereafter.

You receive an inspection record listing the findings and any repairs needed. Records and inspection history are stored in our customer portal, and we remind you when the next inspection is due.

A Finnish legal requirement

Under the Finnish Government Decree on the safe use and inspection of work equipment (403/2008), lifting equipment must be inspected periodically, at least every 12 months.

In-depth periodic inspection

Carried out when the lift approaches the design limits set by the manufacturer or reaches 10 years of age, and every 10 years thereafter. We do it for all vehicle lifts.

Frequently asked questions

How often must a vehicle lift be inspected in Finland?

Lifting equipment must be inspected periodically at least every 12 months (Finnish Government Decree on the safe use and inspection of work equipment, 403/2008). A lift is also inspected before commissioning and after significant modifications or repairs.

What is an in-depth periodic inspection?

A more extensive inspection than the annual one. It is carried out when the lift approaches the manufacturer's design limits or reaches 10 years of age, and every 10 years thereafter. The annual inspection is still done every year. We carry out in-depth periodic inspections for all vehicle lifts.

Who may inspect a vehicle lift?

In Finland, the inspection must be carried out by a competent person who knows the lift's structure, use and inspection methods. We hold a vehicle lift inspector certificate (level 2) issued by Kiwa Inspecta.

Do you inspect lifts outside Finland?

No. Vehicle lift inspections are based on Finnish legislation, and we offer them in Finland only.
